Rail Services in Australia

Each state operates its own railway services however traveling between the capital cities and some major towns by commuter and country rail is affordable and accessible in the most part.

There are also the classic Railways that now operate for the tourist dollars including the rejuvenated Ghan that runs through the Red Centre of Australia and Alice Springs between Adelaide and Darwin. The famous Indian Pacific criss-crosses the country from Sydney on the east coast to Perth on the west coast and presents the traveler with almost every landscape Australia has to offer from the Blue Mountains to the ‘treeless’ Nullabor Plain.

All the state Railway services have associate bus companies linking local services to the railways and these are generally found on the relative rail services websites.
